Users of the Harmar Lift or Scooter-Carrier must know the towbar and tow ball weight rating of their vehicle. This varies with each vehicle and manufacturer, and their use is only suited to vehicles such as larger sedans, SUVs, Vans, Trucks, Caravans and Mobile Homes which generally have longer wheelbases than smaller vehicles. As each vehicle type and size, and State Government road authority rules vary, it is the user’s responsibility to comply with the local regulations. Generally, the rear overhang with the lift or carrier attached must not exceed 60% of the wheelbase of the vehicle, or 3.70m from the centre of the rear wheels, whichever is the lesser. If the user’s registration plate or tail lights are obstructed, a duplicate set will be required.
